Limousine - A Perfect Luxury Car

A limousine is a car which epitomises lavishness. But a limousine is also known by its more recognised name: a limo. It is a car with an extremely stretched wheelbase. The origin of the word limousine can be traced to the name of the French region Limousin, because the covered compartment of the car in the early years of the car had stark resemblance to the cloak worn by the shepherds of that region in France. A limousine is considered a symbol of wealth and status.

The wheelbase of a limousine may be extended or stretched by the original producer or by a designer or fabricator of cars. Being a custom made car it can have any number of customizations and specialities. A limousine is generally equipped with all kinds of luxuries and gadgets that one can think of. Generally one finds such cars being driven not by their owner but by a driver. Renting out limousines is a big business in the United States of America, where they are used by the customers to arrive in style at functions like marriages and social gatherings.

Limousines are generally associated with the very rich. Some of the users of these vehicles range form movie stars to politicians to famous sportsmen and sportswomen. Most of the limousines today found on the road are either black in color or white in colour. Most of the limousines are owned by big companies, the government for its senior members or by companies which rent them out for occasions like weddings to customers. Being a customized car, a limousine can have features like large TV screens, refrigerators, security features like bullet proof windshields and armoring of the body etc.

Some of them are even known to be fit with Jacuzzi and large reclining seats according to the needs and wants of the customers by the companies which manufacture or fabricate such cars. Being a symbol of status and luxury the companies go to any extend to satisfy their up market customers. Today one can see various cars being stretched to make limousines from the famous hummer to a Ferrari in certain instances.
